Self-control is the fruit everyone thinks they understand — grit, discipline, knuckling down. But Paul never meant that. In this sermon we look at Titus 2:11–14 and Galatians 5:22–23 together, and see how grace doesn’t just forgive but trains. The Spirit grows the life of Christ inside us, reshaping desire and steadying us in the moments our old instincts would have taken over.
Bible Study material
I like to prepare complementary Bible studies for my sermons. In parish life they were used by Bible study groups before the sermon to help prepare for Sunday.
As a Bible study leader myself I’ve always felt the frustration of what was the author thinking when writing these questions? So to assist, I provide a leader’s guide. These are not “official and only answers” but more assistance with what the heck was in my head when writing the questions out!
